Imphal, 9th April : : A large number of people under the initiative of the All
\nManipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO), All
\nManipur Women\u2019s Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA),
\nPorei Lemarol Apunba Meira
\nPaibi, Committee on Human Rights (COHR) and the
\nManipuri Students\u2019 Federation (MSF) staged a protest
\nrally today, defying the curfew imposed by the district administration.
\nThe rally began from Kwakeithel around noon and
\nproceeded along Tiddim Road before being stopped by a
\nlarge contingent of security personnel, including State Police and the Rapid Action Force (RAF), at Hodam Leirak. A brief confrontation ensued before authorities allowed a small delegation from the five organisations to proceed for a meeting with the Chief Minister.
\nDuring the meeting, the delegation submitted a memo
\nrandum urging the government to ensure protection of life and property of the people of Manipur amid the ongoing violence.In the memorandum, the organisations called for the replacement of central security
\nforces with adequate deployment of state forces, stating that maintenance of public order is a state subject.They
\nalleged bias on the part of central forces towards both SoO and non-SoO Kuki armed groups and demanded their withdrawal.<\/p>\n

The organisations also demanded registration of an
\nFIR against CRPF personnel allegedly involved in the killing of three civilians at Tronglaobi and sought a high
\nlevel judicial inquiry to be conducted within a fixed
\ntimeframe.They further called
\nfor adequate relief and support for victims and affected
\ncommunities.
\nAdditionally, the memorandum demanded immediate arrest of those responsible for the killing of two minor children and injury to a woman in the April 7 incident at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district, and urged that the perpetrators be brought to justice
