The programme was inaugurated<br \/>\nby lighting the Lamp of Learning by the Chief Guest Hon\u2019ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Basic<br \/>\nEducation, Government of UP, Mr Sandeep Singh. In his inaugural address Mr Singh stated that education<br \/>\ntoday needs to become a powerful tool to bring about positive change is society to spread the light of<br \/>\nlearning among all humanity. Schools must adopt new teaching pedagogies like the ALfA (Accelerated<br \/>\nLearning for All) pedagogy and the PATH way of learning, making education purposeful, active,<br \/>\ntransformative and holistic. He was full of praise for the educational leadership provided by the Founder of<br \/>\nDEVI Sansthan, Dr Sunita Gandhi and her revered mother, Dr Bharti Gandhi, the Chief Mentor of the<br \/>\nprogramme and Founder of the world\u2019s largest City Montessori School.<br \/>\nGuest of Honour, Dr Dinesh Sharma, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, (Uttar Pradesh) said<br \/>\nthat Foundational Literacy and Numeracy skills can vastly be improved through ALfA teaching methods. He<br \/>\nsaid that age-old teaching methods cannot fulfil the aspirations of the present century. The present<br \/>\ngeneration has to be empowered to solve their own problems and lead the world towards a new era of<br \/>\naccomplishment, progress and discovery. Scientific thinking must go hand in hand with development of art<br \/>\nand culture, imaginative and bold initiatives and innovation in every field of knowledge. At the same time,<br \/>\neducation must be value-based, child-friendly and humanistic in approach.<br \/>\nEarlier, Mr Nixon Joseph, Group Executive, DEVI Sansthan welcomed the distinguished guests and participants<br \/>\nwhich numbered around 2000 from 14 states of India. Dr Sunita Gandhi, Founder and CEO of DEVI Sansthan<br \/>\nand Convenor of Leadership Circle 5, set the tone of the day by calling upon the youth to come forward and<br \/>\ncontribute to making India the foremost nation in terms of education and enlightenment. She welcomed the<br \/>\nChief Guest and Guests of Honour as well as all the distinguished government officials for sparing their<br \/>\nvaluable time and assemble on a common global platform to discuss significant issues regarding government<br \/>\neducational policies and new strategies for making education a real instrument of profound social<br \/>\ntransformation.<br \/>\nPanel 1 discussed the need for strengthening FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) Policy, its<br \/>\nimplementation and accountability in School Education. The moderator in this discussion was Dr Madhukar<br \/>\nGupta, IAS, (Retd), Director of Partnerships , DEVI Sansthan, while the panelists included -Chandrashekhar B,<br \/>\nSenior Program Officer, Samagra Shiksha Karnataka; Ms Angela Zothanpurii, Director, Education, Mizoram; Mr<br \/>\nBijesh Kumar Saxena, Deputy Director, Education, Delhi; Ms Sreekala KS, ASPD, Kerala; Dr Shankar Kumar, Asstt<br \/>\nDirector, SCERT, Punjab; Dr Taneya singh, Consultant, Gr I School Education, NITI Aayog; Mr Harshit Mishra,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Deputy Commissioner, KV Sangathan, J&amp;K; Mr Parmendra Saklani, Additional Director, SCERT, Uttarakhand; Ms<br \/>\nSandra M. Nongdiej, Associate Professor &amp;Nodal Officer, FLN, Meghalaya.<br \/>\nThis was followed by ALfA Hands on Clap and Snap Activity much enjoyed by all and a live demonstration of<br \/>\nALfA in Classroom. This was a Government School live demonstration on stage. The highlight of the<br \/>\nprogramme was an Ed Tech Launch of India\u2019s first AI powered Hindi Literacy Chatbox.<br \/>\nSpecial Guest Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, CEO&amp; Head PARAKH, Head Educational Survey Division, NCERT, Ministry of<br \/>\nEducation enlightened the audience with her thought-provoking ideas and encouraging words.<br \/>\nHon\u2019ble Mr Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, U.P., graced the occasion and expressed his<br \/>\nprofound thoughts, stating that education alone makes man superior to other beings and that innovation and<br \/>\nexperimentation in education must be encouraged.<br \/>\nThe ALfA Classroom was presented in a very creative way demonstrating how children easily learn in paired<br \/>\ngroups from one another with teachers as galvanizers. Hands-on Activities were carried out showing how fast<br \/>\nchildren learn from materials easily available at home and in the classroom.<br \/>\n2nd Panel Discussion was on the theme- \u201cRole of CSR in Strengthening FLN-Partnerships, Priorities and Proof<br \/>\nof Impact.\u201d This was moderated by Mr Nixon Joseph, Group Executive, DEVI Sansthan and the panelists were<br \/>\nMs Sheena Gandhi, Assistant Vice-resident, BSE Ltd; Savita Mundhe, Head, CSR, JSW Foundation; Mr Prakash<br \/>\nReddy, Editor &amp; CEO, Corporate Social focus Magazine; Mr Anil Parmar, Senior VP, United Way, Mumbai;<br \/>\nPriyanka Behera, Director, Samhita-CGF; Rishika Puri, CS &amp; CCO, SBI Factors Ltd and Preeti Munjal, Executive<br \/>\nDirector, IIMPACT.<br \/>\nDr Bharti Gandhi, Chairperson, DEVI Sansthan delivered her inspirational address that was very well received<br \/>\nby the eager audience. She said that DEVI Sansthan has been doing a lot of good work for the upliftment of<br \/>\nwomen and children and especially the underprivileged section of society. It will continue to do so in future<br \/>\ntoo.<br \/>\nPanel 3 was moderated by Major General Manoj Tiwari (Retired), Director, Outreach, DEVI Sansthan. The<br \/>\ntheme was \u201cMobilizing CSR towards FLN-Strategy, Scale &amp;Sustainability.\u201d The panelists were Mr Sahista Moh.<br \/>\nIqbal, CSR Lead, Glaxo SmithKline; Dr Suresh Reddy, Director, SRF Foundation; Ms Anushka Bonia, CSR Lead,<br \/>\nJohnson Matthey, India; Mr Krishna Kant Rai, Founder &amp; Director, BBIC; Mr Puneeti Bali, FLN &amp; Education<br \/>\nConsultant; Mr Sujeet Ranjan, CEO, United Way, Delhi; Ms Anamika Srivastava, Founder &amp; CEO, Development<br \/>\nConsortium and Dr Arun Kumar, Deputy Director, Government Institute of Advanced Studies in Education,<br \/>\nRajasthan.<br \/>\nAfter this, there was the Samman Samaroh or the Honouring Ceremony in which the Leader, Partners and<br \/>\nChampions of FLN were honoured and felicitated.
