A training programme on the Production of Black Rice was successfully held at Sanjenbam, organised by The Garden Care, a committed organization working towards sustainable agriculture and organic farming practices in Manipur.
During the programme, two respected experts—Kh. Nimaichand, Nodal Officer of MOVCDNER (Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region), and L. Sanatomba, Retired Agriculture Officer (A.O)—delivered impactful speeches.
Sir. Kh. Nimaichand highlighted the significance of organic black rice cultivation under the MOVCDNER scheme. He spoke about the economic potential of black rice and encouraged farmers to utilize organic methods for better yield and healthier produce. He also assured continued support from the government and the department in terms of technical know-how and market linkage.
Sir. L. Sanatomba, with decades of experience in agricultural extension, provided valuable guidance on practical farming techniques. He spoke in detail about soil health management, organic input usage, timely sowing, pest and disease control, and harvesting methods specific to black rice. His address was both informative and motivational, especially for new and aspiring organic farmers.
The training, organized by The Garden Care, was highly appreciated by local farmers and participants. It served as a crucial step in spreading awareness and building capacity for organic black rice production in the Sanjenbam area.
