Lucknow, March 31, : : The two-day National Conference on Sustainable Water and Natural Resource Management: Innovations and Strategies (SWNRM-2026), jointly organized by the Amity School of Applied Sciences (ASAP) and the Dean Student Welfare Department, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus, concluded successfully today.
The valedictory session was graced by distinguished dignitaries including Dr. Krushna Chandra Gouda, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-Fourth Paradigm Institute, Bengaluru; Wg. Cdr. (Dr.) Anil Tiwari, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Lucknow Campus; Prof. (Dr.) Asita Kulshreshtha, HoI, ASAS; Dr. Manodeep Sen, Professor, Department of Microbiology, RMLIMS; Dr. Jyotsana Singh, Scientist F, Inhalation Toxicology Facility (CSIR-IITR); and Dr. Mohit Kumar Agrawal, Professor, School of Architecture & Planning, BBD University, Lucknow.

Addressing the gathering, Wg. Cdr. (Dr.) Anil Tiwari emphasized that the conference reflected a strong and collective realization among the younger generation about the importance of conserving natural resources and working towards a sustainable future.
The conference featured poster and oral presentation competitions. Pranav Parijat secured the first prize in poster presentation, while Dr. Kimi was awarded first prize in oral presentation.
Speaking on human well-being, Dr. Mohit Kumar Agrawal highlighted that green buildings are the need of the hour. He noted that incorporating renewable energy, efficient water management, and proper vegetation planning can significantly contribute to a healthier environment.
Dr. Jyotsana Singh described air pollution as an “elephant in the room,” stressing that society often fails to perceive the problem in its entirety. She also cautioned about the environmental and health risks associated with lithium-ion and next-generation batteries.
Dr. Krushna Chandra Gouda pointed out that climate change is contributing to rising food prices in India and that the country remains among the most vulnerable to climate impacts. He noted that extreme weather events such as heatwaves and cloudbursts occur on a majority of days in a year due to changing climatic patterns.
The conference comprised five technical sessions, including a key session on Environmental Governance and Sustainable Innovation: Integrating Law, Policy, Green Chemistry, Energy, and Technology, chaired by Dr. Jaya Pandey. The session highlighted advancements in green chemistry, green hydrogen, environmental law and governance, water rights in India, and sustainable urban development through green building practices.
The conference brought together eminent scientists, academicians, experts, faculty members, and students from across the country to deliberate on emerging environmental challenges and explore sustainable solutions.
A special presentation on the Namami Gange initiative was also delivered, emphasizing river conservation and sustainable water management.
The conference concluded on a successful note with the presence of Heads of Institutions, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students.
